Roll-out of new recycling services for Augusta & Molloy Island
Perthwaste Green Recycling is pleased to be partnering with the Shire of Augusta Margaret River to expand the number of recycling collection services in the area.
Around 250 new recycling bins were delivered to properties in Augusta and Molloy Island in June, with recycling collections to these areas commencing on 1 July 2015.
Perthwaste Bunbury Branch Manager, Mr Greg Miller said, “Emptying recycling bins in a ‘water access only’ community such as Molloy Island is not as easy a process as in most neighbourhoods.”
“In order to empty recycling bins, the Perthwaste recycling truck is ferried to the Island fortnightly by a barge then drives around the island to service the bins,” he explained.
All recycling collected by Perthwaste Green Recycling in the Shire of Augusta Margaret River is consolidated at the Perthwaste Bunbury Transfer Station, then transferred in bulk to the Perthwaste Materials Recovery Facility in Bibra Lake (20km south of Perth) for processing.
The additional recycling services will improve the Shire’s total recycling rate in an environmentally and economically sustainable way.
Perthwaste Green Recycling is committed to working with Councils to improve resource recovery. Perthwaste provides waste management services to 22 other WA local governments as well as state government, commercial, industrial and retail clients.
